Google Fiber continues to spread its wing, this time to the suburban community of Grandview, Missouri.
Google has announced that it will be coming to Grandview, Missouri (just to the south of Kansas City) as it continues its efforts to build its super fast Fiber network. Sadly, the actual service won’t be going on stream since the plans are only confirmed on paper. They are still working on the planning and engineering of the network to deliver their 1 Gbps service, so residents may not see service until late 2014 or well into 2015.
Other cities on the roadmap set to receive the service include Provo, Utah and Austin, Texas.
Meanwhile competing companies are already running scared by slashing prices and making promises of offering gigabit packages in the future. Time Warner Cable has started boosting speeds and cutting prices in the Kansas area , and AT&T hasn’t waited for Google to implement its service in Austin, Texas to announce that it will offer a matching service.
