While the iPhone 5C and 5S officially went on sale today in many parts of the world, word is that the gold iPhone 5S is experiencing supply shortages.
Multiple sources have told The Verge that the gold iPhone 5S is in short supply, and going to Apple’s online store confirms that there is now an “October” shipping date for the gold iPhone 5S in the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia. The other iPhone 5S colors, however, still have one-to-three and seven-to-ten day delivery estimates.
In a statement released to All Things D, Apple confirmed that there is a general shortage of the gold iPhone 5S:
Demand for the new iPhones has been incredible and we are currently sold out or have limited supply of certain iPhone 5s models in some stores.
Even so, The Wall Street Journal reported that Apple has instructed its suppliers to increase gold iPhone 5S production so that the unsurprising high demand can be met.
