If you don’t know or watch/read ‘Attack on Titan’, you are missing out on life. But here’s the quick and dirty version of events without going into too much details or spoilers: humanity has retreated into walled cities in order to hide from the threat of Titans (giant humanoid creatures). One day, the outermost wall is broken by the Colossal Titan and Titans pour into the city, and one of the Titans eat protagonist Eren’s mother. After seeing that, he swears to take revenge and exterminate the Titans.
The 3DS game for Attack on Titan, or Shingeki no Kyojin as some people prefer calling it, will allow players to control Eren, Mikasa, or Armin in the story mode. You can develop these characters as you continue on with the story. The game is action-oriented, and will re-enact the speed of the 3D Maneuver Gear that has been seen to be very vital when trying to avoid getting eaten. NPCs can get eaten, and if your character dies, you, too, can be eaten. In the case of NPCs, however, you can save them by pulling them out of trouble.
It is unknown whether Attack on Titan will get a release in the West, but I personally do not have high hopes of it happening. I haven’t seen any anime games that were localized when the original anime has not received an English-dubbed version, but I could be wrong about this.
The AoT game will be developed by Spike Chunsoft, of Dangan Ronpa fame.
